Our standard sight glasses come with borosilicate glass and are sealed with Buna-N gaskets. Other viewport materials, including acrylic and polycarbonate, along with gaskets made of EPDM, FKM, silicone, and PTFE are stocked as well. Various end configurations are available, including clamp, bevel seat, I-Line, Q-Line and John Perry.
Sanitary sight glasses are typically used in food and beverage, brewery, tank and winery applications. They allow operators and technicians to see inside the process line without needing to open it and risk potential contamination of the product flowing through it. With our tri-clamp sight glasses installed at strategic points along the production line, it’s easy to see whether there are any blockages, damage or unbalanced fluid levels that could have an adverse effect on production. Steel & O’Brien has a deep inventory of sight glasses that meet or exceed sanitary regulations regarding material finish on the inside and outside diameter. During manufacture and prior to shipment, our stainless steel sight glasses are marked with the alloy, heat number and size for traceability, then capped and bagged.
