Job Responsibilities
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Reads and interprets blueprints.
- Understands tolerancing.
- Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Properly and safely replaces inserts and materials onto machines.
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Performs first piece inspection on simple geometry.
- Clears chips from parts during operation stops.
- Identifies part defects and alerts supervisor.
- Understands tool wear and when to change tooling.
- Initiating NCR’s and completing other quality and production documents.
- Creates and reviews simple programs.
- Transfers programs from the shop computer to the machine and to the shop computer from machine.
- General understanding of speeds and feeds of the cutting tool.
- Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.
- Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
- Has own measuring tools.
- Sets up and operates the most complex parts.
- Performs tasks with little to no supervision.
- Determines and adjusts speeds and feeds of the cutting tool based on material and tooling.
- Continually finds ways for improvements
- Communicates and provides guidance and feedback to engineering for new and existing parts.
- Trains and mentors upcoming machinists
- Minimal scrap and rework rates
- Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
- Tests new tooling and completes time studies to properly prove out new tooling.
Qualifications
- Reads, interprets blueprints, and produces parts in accordance to prints.
- Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
- Understands tolerancing.
- 5+ years of CNC lathe machine experience required, including setups.
- Preferred experience with creating conversational programs.
- Evaluates experimental procedures and recommends change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
- Trains and mentors other employees.
- Preferred experience with Mazatrol, G Code, and/or Fusion 360.
