Senior Buyer

Primary Duties

• Sources strategically to achieve lowest overall cost (including quality, speed, price and innovative value) and most profit, with a focus on the customer experience
• Plans and manages inventory within minimums and maximums to meet production schedules, in accordance with materials requirement plan
• Issues purchase orders per negotiated pricing, terms and conditions
• Proactively anticipates and plans for supply issues to ensure on-time delivery
• Takes ownership of issues and keeps the big picture in mind to ensure optimum decision-making
• Resolves supplier performance issues to ensure zero defect quality, documenting and implementing corrective actions when needed
• Seeks business innovation and continuous improvement on inventory turnover objectives and annual cost savings initiatives
• Issues RFI and RFQ and negotiates terms within established parameters
• Manages vendor relationships
• Tracks and reports key performance indicators, stays abreast of business issues, and proactively anticipates and resolves issues
• Manages cycle count program and analyzes variances, while maintaining a 98% piece and dollar accuracy level
• Collaborates with Operations and Quality to maintain a vendor scorecard
• Champion safety, company culture and ethics
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or other relevant area.
• Five or more years of relevant supply chain experience, ideally in a small company where you wear many hats OR in multiple areas of supply chain
• APICS certification such as CPIM or CSCP preferred
• Procurement experience managing an international supply chain is preferred.
• SIOP experience
• Demand planning experience and understanding is preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing preferred
• Some travel is required as needed.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job such as:
  • Safely navigating a manufacturing environment
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk using computer, phone and office equipment
  • Occasional standing and walking
